Is it just me, or are the maddening hypocritical focuses of Democrats and the media even more maddening than usual lately?
They’re obsessed that Romney used the word “Obamacare” at an NAACP speech, but they don’t care that Obama and many other liberals have used the same word many times.
They’re obsessed with getting Romney to release his old tax returns, but they don’t care that Obama won’t release his old college transcripts.
They’re obsessed with Romney’s contradictions about his past work at Bain, but they don’t care about Obama’s contradictions about his past involvement with the extreme left New Party.
Now some of my observations may be filtered through selective news and mood affiliation, and I’m sure Republicans and Fox News are guilty of similar or worse crimes. But the hypocrisy is still infuriatingly ridiculous.
I predicted three months ago that Republicans who don’t like Romney would unite behind Democrats who went too far attacking him, and I see it happening all over the place. I’m not even Republican and I’m even getting tempted to defend Romney because the media seems to be reporting every time Obama’s campaign criticizes the man while ignoring all the similar things Obama has done.
What’s most maddening of all is that none of the above obsessions have anything to do with, you know, actually being president. Forget discussing policies or records. Let’s focus on irrelevant details that just make the other candidate look like a horrible person. I call it “celebrity campaign coverage.” Sometimes it feels like it’s getting worse.
